Your map saves in this browser automatically. The share link holds your whole map, so anyone who opens it sees exactly what you marked. Nothing is sent to a server.

How Do I Make My Own Visited Countries Map?

  1. Mark where you’ve been. With “Been there” selected, tap each country on the map. Use the search box for small ones like Malta or Singapore.
  2. Add your bucket list. Switch to “Want to go” and tap the countries you dream about.
  3. Download the image. “Download my map” saves a PNG with your country count, ready for Instagram stories or a travel journal.
  4. Share the link. Send it to friends to compare maps, or keep it to update after every trip.

How Many Countries Are There in the World?

There are 195 widely recognized countries: the 193 United Nations members plus two observer states, the Vatican and Palestine. This map lists 197, because it also includes Kosovo and Taiwan, which many travelers count. Your “% of the world” is calculated out of 195, so marking all 197 shows a little over 100%.

What Counts as Visiting a Country?

There is no official rule, but most travelers agree on a simple test: you passed through immigration and spent some time there. An airport layover where you never leave the transit zone usually doesn’t count. A fun rule some travelers use: it only counts if you ate a local meal outside the airport. Pick your rule and stick to it, so your number means something to you.
